Mt. Pleasant Church is holding its first annual Food-4-Kids Spring Praise Fest. The event will be held on May 10, 2014, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Mt. Pleasant Church fellowship hall located at 6516 Old Greensboro Road in Thomasville.
This event is open to the entire community to enjoy a light meal, and bluegrass, gospel and contemporary Christian performances by Mt. Pleasant Kids, 3 Rusty Nails, Soul Purpose, New Journey and His Choice.
For the past several years, Mt. Pleasant Church has been collecting and supplying weekend food for hungry kids in Davidson County. Referred to as the “Backpack Ministry”, students in the program are called out of class and are discretely given a bag of food, which is tucked into their backpacks. Each bag contains enough food to see the students through the weekend.
“It’s been such a blessing to help children in our own community.” said Pastor, Chris Clontz. “These children might not otherwise have food on the weekend when school meals are unavailable and the stories we hear truly pull at the heart strings.”
This event will support this ministry by collecting items needed for our Backpack Pantry in exchange for admission. Items needed include: Full Size Peanut Butter, Chicken Noodle Soup, Beanie Weenies, Ravioli, Oatmeal and small boxes of Mac & Cheese.
“We hope the greater community will join us for a night of worship and fellowship.” said Creslyn Hilton, Mt. Pleasant member and Backpack Ministry coordinator. “I can’t count how many meals we’ve delivered over the years, but the blessings keep adding up!”
