Elder Candidates

Vote to Elect Elders will be on Sunday, November 20 from 8 – 11am.

The Elder Council shall serve as spiritual leaders of the Church. The Council of Elders shall serve on a rotating basis with no Elder other than the Senior Pastor serving for more than 3 consecutive years. Elders are eligible to serve a new term following a two-year absence from the Council of Elders.

The spiritual affairs, spiritual growth, and spiritual direction of the Church and the pastoral staff will be managed and governed by the Elders. Elders shall serve without compensation, other than reimbursement for ordinary and reasonable expenses.

Elders have responsibility for:

a.) Doctrine. Ensuring that the doctrine of the Church is Biblical; all doctrinal issues in the Church will be settled solely by the Elder Council. Elders will review material and advise on all teaching ministries at the Church.

b.) Direction. Ensuring that the direction of the Church is consistent with the Mt. Pleasant Vision and Mission. Elders will evaluate ministry programs for appropriate Biblical content and intent to prevent Church activities from becoming “of the world”.

c.) Care and Discipline. Caring for the congregation and administering in love and humility the process of Church discipline as outlined in Matthew 18:15-20, Galatians 6:1-4, Titus 3:10, 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15, 1 Timothy 5:17-25, 1 Corinthians 5, 2 Corinthians 2:5-11, and Romans 16:17.

d.) Supervision and coaching of pastor and pastoral staff.

e.) Pastor search oversight when the need arises.

f.) Meet, encourage and facilitate new members in finding a servant role in the church.

Kelley Cameron

Kelley Cameron

Kelley Cameron, I have been married to Laura Cameron for 17 years. We have 3 children, Eleanor, Olivia, and Rhys. We have been attending MTP for almost 5 years and have been members for 2 1/2 years. I am currently serving our church as a Trustee and my wife and I are members of the Jeremiah 29:11 small group. I am the Store manager of The Hobby Lobby in High Point and have worked for the company for 6 1/2 years. I have worked for various retail companies over the last 25 years. I have learned many lessons working in my field. The most important of these lessons is how to work with a team of people from all backgrounds towards a common goal. I believe this is exactly why MTP means so much to me and my family. We here at MTP come from many different backgrounds and life experiences but we have all come together here and are working towards the same goal. To share the unfailing love of Jesus Christ. I am humbled and honored to have been nominated and look forward to continuing to turn this community upside down for Jesus.

Keith Knolmayer

The Knolmayer Family transitioned from the south suburbs of Chicago area in June 1999. Moving our entire family, Paula, Austin, & Corey from our immediate family to NC introduced us to the loving congregation at MTP. We had began visiting with MTP towards the end of 1999 and then joined the MTP family in 2000. Over the course of the past (23) years, MTP has seen a continual shift towards sharing of scripture including turning our community upside down for Jesus through sharing the love of Christ with everyone. Throughout the past (23) years, I have had the privilege of assisting in various capacities, Evangelism, committee’s development for both Praise & Worship, Trunk or Treat, and Sunday School classes. Additionally, the pastoral staff of MTP had allowed me to deliver the message “Fingerprints of God” on Isaiah 6 during the 8:30 service. Moreover, it has been a pleasure to serve our MTP family in other capacities including both the MTP Choir and teaching in several Sunday school groups for more than (20) years, and participating in the Kidz Klub through teaching and special programs. MTP has encouraged me to continue to grow in my Faith through prayer and allowing the Holy Spirit to move. The power of prayer must not be understated and we must all remain in prayer for our pastoral staff as they work to stand firm in the authority of scripture, leading all of us to strive to become more Christ like. My nomination for role of Elder shall not be taken lightly and I’m grateful for this opportunity to serve our MTP family. Through scripture, I remain committed to MTP to lead others to the Love of Jesus Christ.

Mark Long

Mark Long – I have been married to my wife, Christy for 20 years. Together we have 3 children and a son-in-law Madison Carroll (Nolan), Jackson Palmer, and Bryson.

I have been fortunate to have been in church all my life and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior as a teenager. Our family began attending Mt. Pleasant Church in 2016 and officially became members in May 2017. MTP has always felt like home and where we were meant to be from the very first time we visited.

Currently, I lead a weekly Men’s Bible study, co-teach an Adult Small Group, and serve on the church security team. In recent years, I served as the Co-Chair of the Trustees.

Outside of church I work in a leadership role in the Media/Advertising industry. Some of my favorite things to do include, hunting, grilling, spending time with family, and watching our youngest play baseball.

I am humbled and honored to be nominated for consideration to be an Elder at Mt. Pleasant. I’m not sure if anyone ever feels qualified to serve in this role, but after a lengthy study in Genesis recently, this is a great reminder that there are no perfect people or families in the Bible, but God can use us if we are obedient and trust Him:

“The portrait of families in the Bible is a series of broken relationships in need of redemption. Not a single family in the entire Old or New Testament was so exemplary that God held it up as a model or pattern for us to follow. Indeed, the great faithful men of the Bible had to rely on God’s grace too. And despite their imperfections, God used them for his purposes.” ~ Ron Deal, The Smart Step-Family

My vision for MTP is that we continue to grow spiritually and physically through an uncompromising commitment to our mission of boldly sharing the unfailing love of Jesus.

Alex Sprinkle

Alex Sprinkle

My name is Alex Sprinkle. I have been married to my wife Trina for almost 25 years. We have one daughter (Shelby) and one son (AJ). I have worked for the City of High Point for 24 years.

I was born and raised in Iredell County and grew up attending Bethel Baptist Church in Troutman, NC. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior at the age of nine after a conversation with my pastor.

Trina and I moved to this community approximately 20 years ago. We began visiting Mt. Pleasant at the end of 2018 and joined in the spring of 2020. I enjoy serving on the church Security Team and helping with other outreach ministries (Light up the Night, Trunk or Treat, VBS, etc.).

It is obvious that the love of Jesus is alive at Mt. Pleasant. Our family knew that after the first visit. This church is filled with people who are kind, caring, and giving. I am incredibly honored to have been nominated to serve our church in this role.

robert wilkerson

Robert Wilkinson

Robert Wilkerson, married to Lori Wilkerson for 37 years and we have one daughter, Stephanie. Halifax County, Virginia is where I was born and raised. I have been a North Carolina resident for 44 years and the last 29 years have been spent in Davidson County.

I retired from the trucking industry after serving 41 years as a truck driver. While employed I worked for several trucking companies although the majority of my work years were spent at Golden State Foods Corporation. When I retired I worked for Harris Teeter Corporation.

I have been a member of the Davidson County Civitan Club for 8 years. Additionally, I travel across the state of North Carolina and beyond to accompany my daughter, Stephanie, who serves in roles for the following organizations: Civitan District positions, North Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run Athlete Ambassador, and Victory Junction Camp Ambassador. I also serve as a volunteer at Victory Junction Camp.

I have been saved for 38 years. Jesus transformed my life and I am thankful for his daily blessings. My family has been attending Mt. Pleasant for 1.5 years. After volunteering for Night to Shine and Light Up the Night it was evident that Mt. Pleasant Church was where I felt we belonged. My family and I enjoy being a part of the 29:11 Small Group where we get to learn and share the unfailing love of Jesus with friends that feel like family. It is exciting to feel the acceptance and see the growth at Mt. Pleasant Church!

Greg York

My name is Greg York. My wife Melissa and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary this December 14. We joined Mt. Pleasant Church in 2017 along with our three children Madyson(14), Eli(12), and Faith (9). I was born and raised in Thomasville and grew up attending Carolina Memorial Baptist Church. There I accepted Jesus as my savior and was baptized as a young boy. I am a rural mail carrier at the Trinity Post Office where I started working in 2002. I love doing woodworking as a hobby and as a side job occasionally. I am very blessed to have been raised in a home where being involved with our church family was a key part of our lives. Ever since Melissa and I came to our first marriage conference with some friends of ours several years ago, it was evident that this was a family of genuine believers, and that is something that is becoming harder to find in our day. It is my vision and prayer that as we grow in numbers at MTP, we would always keep the unapologetic approach to God’s word front and center, and that our members will be continually encouraged and emboldened to share God’s love with those they are with each day.
